The RF Bahamas Economic Outlook (RFBEO) Conference, held on March 12, 2025, at the Baha Mar Resort in New Providence, brought together global experts to explore the shifting dynamics of the global economy. Under the theme "Escalating Global Conflicts: Power Shifts & Opportunities," the conference addressed the evolving geopolitical landscape and its implications for the Caribbean region. The event provided a critical platform for discussing key economic trends, as well as the opportunities and challenges they present for businesses.

Prime Minister of the Bahamas, The Honorable Philip Davis, opened the conference, while David Slatter, Vice President of Investments at RF, followed with insights into RF Bank & Trust’s latest initiatives, including a new app designed to give investors more control over their financial decisions. Slatter encouraged businesses to stay ahead of the curve, stating, “Success is about preparation,” and urging companies to move with, rather than behind, market trends.

The conference featured a diverse lineup of speakers offering expert perspectives on global issues. KT McFarland, former Deputy National Security Advisor of the United States, discussed the shifting power dynamics in global politics and their impact on international decision-making. Dr. Helen Papagiannis, an authority on artificial intelligence (AI), explored how AI is transforming industries by creating personalized consumer experiences, while stressing that it should be used to enhance human potential, not replace it.

Admiral Mike Rogers (Ret.), former Director of the National Security Agency, shared his insights on the growing intersection of technology, national security, and economic stability. He highlighted the increasing role of data in business and the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard against rising threats. Renato Grandmont, Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, followed and addressed the complexities of investing in uncertain times, offering advice on navigating geopolitical risks and the potential impacts of U.S. policy changes.

A highlight of the event was a panel discussion on the future of the Bahamas' cruise industry, moderated by economist Marla Dukharan. The panelists included Ed Fields, Principal of EF Consultants; Joseph Gaskin Jr., Regional Public Affairs Director for Disney Cruise Line in the Bahamas and the Caribbean; and Mark Daniels, Environmental Principal at BRON. They explored how Bahamians can create culturally immersive experiences that enrich the visitor experience. The panel also stressed the importance of fostering local entrepreneurship and engaging communities in tourism development.

The conference concluded with a presentation by Dr. Kimberley Amirault-Ryan, a performance consultant who has worked with top athletes, followed by a vibrant Junkanoo rushout and cocktail reception.
