The iNSPIRE HER conference returned on November 20 with a full day of conversation, reflection, and community. Hosted by Cable Bahamas and Aliv, the event brought women together to hear honest stories about growth, purpose, and the work it takes to move forward. Actress and author Tabitha Brown joined business leader Debra Lee, the former CEO of BET, along with several other speakers and business owners who shared their work in the trade show. The tone of the day was simple, show up for yourself, show up for others, and keep going even when the path feels slow.
Tabitha Brown spoke about her long road toward success. She reminded the audience that the wait for a goal should not stop anyone from enjoying their life. 'It was a journey, but during it, I was LIVING.' Her message was steady and clear. Joy and purpose are found in everyday moments, not only in the final win.
Debra Lee also spoke openly about her career and the lessons she gathered along the way. “It is very important to define your own success.” She talked about how life shifts over time and how each season serves a different purpose. “There is always a different phase. There is always a phase 2. It can be less productive, but more purposeful.” She encouraged women to trust their intuition and to give themselves room to grow without pressure to be perfect. She also noted the value of a strong support system, both giving and receiving help.
The student session in the morning and the evening session both reflected the same spirit. People asked questions, shared stories, and looked for simple ways to stay grounded in work and everyday life. The conversations felt close to home for many Bahamian women who balance family, community, and ambition.
The conference began in 2022 as Sorry, Not Sorry and has become a steady part of Cable Bahamas' effort to support women in leadership. This year’s gathering stayed true to that mission. It created a space where women could speak plainly about setbacks and progress, and where small lessons felt just as important as big achievements. The message that remained at the end of the day was one that many carried with them. You do not have to have everything figured out. You only have to keep showing up.
