The local Italian community once again united to proudly showcase their culture, food, and heritage at the Italian Booth at the International Culture, Wine & Food Festival, held on October 18-19, 2025.
Each year, the Italian community gathers to celebrate their cuisine, offering an array of authentic dishes prepared by talented and generous local partners. This year’s menu featured fresh pasta made to order by an Italian chef, classic beef lasagna, and handcrafted gelato from Dolce Gelato, among other Italian favorites.
Beyond the delicious food and lively atmosphere, the booth continues its longstanding tradition of supporting several Bahamian organizations. This year, all proceeds will benefit the Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled (BAPD), furthering the group’s mission of community support. Group representatives visited the BAPD facility on Dolphin Drive, witnessing the excellent work of the team that provides dedicated care and education to 24 children with disabilities.
“It’s a great effort every year, but one that brings us immense pride,” said Dr. Alberto Suighi, Honorary Consul General for Italy in The Bahamas. “Coming together to share our food and culture while supporting a meaningful local cause is at the heart of what we do. We are truly grateful to our volunteers who made it possible. A sincere recognition goes to our chef, Leonardo Mariotti, who led the culinary effort with great skill and energy.”
Past beneficiaries include the Bahamas Humane Society, the Sailing School of Eleuthera, several public schools in Nassau and Freeport, and the Ranfurly Home for Children.
The Italian community extends heartfelt thanks to all sponsors and partners whose generosity and enthusiasm helped make this year’s event another great success.
