Bahamians love South Florida—we even consider it a second home. You already know Miami, but here are a few fresh tings to do the next time you visit Magic City, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and more!

Miami and The Bahamas have deep ties—so much so that Bahamian immigrants made up a third of the voters who helped form the City of Miami. There’s even a part of Coconut Grove called Little Bahamas, so our first stop is in Coconut Grove to connect with some Bahamian art!

Snap a Selfie with Bahamian Art in Coconut Grove & The Design District

The Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove, where you’ll find a rooftop pool bar called Sip Sip, is home to a hand-painted mural by Bahamian artist Angelika Wallace-Whitfield. Grab a drink, soak in the views, and snap that perfect selfie.

While you're in an artistic mood, let’s head to the heart of the Design District to check out a mural by Bahamian artist April Bey from her Colonial Swag collection. It’s a must-visit for art lovers.

Take the Kids on a Safari Adventure

Instead of trekking all the way to Disney World (and spending a fortune), take the family to Lion Country Safari in West Palm Beach! This drive-thru safari lets you get up close with giraffes, lions, and other exotic animals. After the drive, let the kids burn off some energy on the mini-rides at their adventure park.

Roll Up Your Sleeves for a Sushi-Making Class

If you love sushi, why not learn to make it? Head to Lucky Cat Street Eatery in North Lauderdale for a sushi-making class, where you’ll learn to make three delicious sushi rolls. At just $45 per person, it’s a fun, cheap, and tasty dining experience.

Get Moving with a Trendy Class

If you love fitness or simply moving your body, visiting new gyms is fun! Search for gyms in the area near you and you’ll find great fitness gems like Tremble. Tremble is a Florida-grown brand now with 20 locations all over the United States. Book a high-energy Pilates class at Tremble and it comes with a twist. Expect loud beats, fast moves, and you’ll definitely be trembling at least once in this fun, yet intense session.

Take an Airboat Ride with the Gators!

For an ultimate Florida experience, go to the Swamp! Over 31% of Florida is wetlands, so this is a must-visit. Plus, you’ll spot gators. Visit Airboat Rides Miami and hop on a high-speed airboat to cruise through the Everglades, spotting alligators in their natural habitat. If you’re feeling adventurous, grab a bite at their restaurant—yes, they serve gator dishes too!
