Looking for a new Bahamian restaurant to try?

The Mahogany Club hosted a preview of their new menu on July 11 that featured a spread of classic Bahamian dishes reimagined through an elevated dining lens.

The restaurant, which is located at the British Colonial Hotel on Bay Street, will launch its new menu on Friday, July 18. Highlights include creative interpretations of classic Bahamian comfort foods like Tuna & Grits, Peas Soup & Dough, and Sunday dinner — all through the imaginative lens of the hotel's culinary team.

The showcase started with a sweet and savory griddle cake served with a goat pepper butter, a dish that brings back fond memories of Executive Chef Antonio's upbringing. The menu also features Bahamian-inspired cocktails by Mixologist Derrick Blackmon that included familiar ingredients like tamarind, tumeric, guava and even savory touches.

Other menu highlights include a play on Tuna and Grits that features lightly seared tuna and grits croquettes served with an avocado (aka pear) mousse. The Peas Soup & Dough, reimagined as an Asian-inspired dumpling, was also a crowd favorite.

The night was capped off with a duo of Bahamian-inspired desserts by Chef Geshann Pratt-Francis - a play on pineapple upside-down cake and pineapple tart -as well as a guava duff-inspired cocktail.
