On Saturday, February 1, the Mudda Freeze Ice Cream Shop in the Old Fort Town Center hosted its inaugural Ice Cream Social, a vibrant celebration of both ice cream and the culinary talent of Chef Wayne Moncur. The event brought together an array of flavors, delicious dishes, and lively music to create an unforgettable evening. Guests were treated to a fun atmosphere, with DJ AI spinning old school and R&B classics, setting the perfect backdrop for an evening of indulgence.

The night kicked off with a unique and refreshing mango prosecco float that featured Mudda Freeze's house-made mango ice cream paired with freshly baked bread from Mudda Freeze's sister company, Bakehouse. Led by Pastry Chef Iavana Moncur, Bakehouse is renowned for its warm, high-quality breads, and this event featured a special garlic butter candle to complement the bread's flavor, adding a touch of indulgence. As the evening continued, guests were served an array of mouthwatering tapas courses that showcased the culinary prowess of Chef Wayne Moncur. The first course, a spiny lobster crostini, was delicate and flavorful, while the ramen brought a comforting warmth. The next course included a hearty six-hour braised short rib paired with a dry rubbed rib served alongside goat cheese polenta. To round out the savory courses, Chef Wayne offered a playful take on a ‘shrimp snack,’ which included hand-cut fries topped with a prosciutto aioli and a jumbo grilled prawn.

As the evening drew to a close, guests were treated to a decadent dessert: a sugar banana pancake topped with vanilla ice cream, rum-caramelized banana, and a sea salt streusel. The combination of textures and flavors was the perfect ending to the meal.

While this was Mudda Freeze’s first ice cream social, Chef Wayne Moncur has already teased that there will be many more exciting events and innovative flavors to come. With Mudda Freeze’s commitment to celebrating Bahamian culture and flavors through its house-made ice cream, it’s clear that the Ice Cream Social was just the beginning of a growing culinary journey. Located in Nassau, New Providence, Mudda Freeze is a beloved destination for both locals and visitors who want to experience the best of Bahamian-inspired ice cream. With Chef Wayne at the helm, Mudda Freeze promises to be a place where creativity and culture meet in every scoop.
