The Bahamas is known for its breathtaking islands, each offering its own unique charm and a wide array of experiences. For those living in New Providence, there are several incredible day trips that allow you to explore the beauty of nearby islands without the need for extensive travel. Whether you're looking for a relaxing beach day, a thrilling boat ride, or an opportunity to indulge in a special lunch on a remote cay, there are options to suit every budget and preference.

One of the most accessible options is a boat tour to Rose Island. Just a short 20-minute boat ride from Nassau, Rose Island is a peaceful getaway that offers pristine beaches and clear, turquoise waters. Several tour companies, such as Sandy Toes, offer group tours to Rose Island. While prices vary by company, they are usually around $100 to $250. These tours typically include beach access, snorkeling, lunch, and opportunities to relax in the sun. It’s a perfect escape for anyone looking to unwind in nature without having to travel too far from home.

If you have a bit more time and are ready for an adventure, a day tour to Exuma is highly recommended. Although Exuma is further from Nassau, there are boat tours available that let you experience the stunning beauty of the Exuma cays. Companies like Powerboat Adventures offer excursions that include stops at some of Exuma's most famous spots as well as lunch. These tours can be a bit pricier, usually around $300, but they offer a once-in-a-lifetime chance to explore one of the most picturesque parts of the Bahamas.

For a slightly different experience, consider taking the fast ferry to Harbour Island or Spanish Wells. The Bahamas Fast Ferries service offers routes between Nassau and these two Eleuthera cays. The ferry ride takes a few hours and arrives on the islands before 11 a.m., giving you plenty of time to explore before departing around 3:30 p.m. Tickets are around $260, and once on the islands, you can rent a golf cart for another $50 to $60 to explore.

If you choose Harbour Island, we recommend enjoying lunch at one of the island’s amazing restaurants, grabbing some fresh-baked bread, having a coffee at a cute cafe, and swimming at the stunning Pink Sand Beach. And, if you visit on a weekend, we highly recommend brunch at The Landing.

For those looking to enjoy a special occasion, a trip to Kamalame Cay in Andros is the ultimate luxury experience. This option is the most expensive on the list, as it typically requires booking a charter or seaplane to get there. However, once you arrive, you’ll be treated to an unforgettable experience. Kamalame Cay is renowned for its monthly lunch, which costs upwards of $200. The island offers a serene escape, and the lush surroundings make it an ideal destination for a celebratory meal. The short 15-minute flight from Nassau makes it possible to enjoy a relaxing day in Andros without the need for an overnight stay.

Each of these day trip options allows Bahamians living in New Providence to discover more of what the Bahamas has to offer without committing to long travels. Whether you're enjoying a relaxing day at Rose Island, exploring the Exuma cays, or experiencing the luxury of Kamalame Cay, these trips provide a perfect way to make the most of the beautiful islands that surround Nassau. Just remember to always ask for Bahamian rates to make your adventure even more affordable.
